How we know this
Michigan property-tax rates come from the Michigan Department of Treasury’s statewide “Total Property Tax Rates in Michigan” report — the official public record — which we ingest each year and crosswalk to the U.S. Census school-district and local-unit boundaries your address falls in. Rates vary by city or township within the same school district, so we match the exact local unit where we can and tell you when we’ve had to fall back to a district median. Payment, mortgage-insurance, and closing-cost math runs the same engine the advisory app uses.
